Costa
Tropical Granada - having
the best climate of all the
Spanish costas, it is little
wonder this area is a popular
holiday destination for the
Spanish people. The Costa
Tropical has been largely
unaffected by mass tourism and
over building which has ruined
other areas.
Enjoying a
sub-tropical microclimate found
nowhere else in mainland Europe,
the Costa Tropical is protected
from winter weather by the
Sierra Nevada mountain range and
therefore experiences
temperatures more akin to those
found in exotic locations.
With 320
or more days of sunshine each
year the area is ideal for those
who like to spend time outside
pursuing activities - just
think, no more planning what to
do at the weekend "if the
weather's OK".
The Costa
Tropical is served by three
airports, Granada, Malaga and
Almeria, all of which benefit
from year round low cost
flights.
Tropical Valley and villages of
the western Costa Tropical -
if you go a little inland from
the western Costa Tropical you
find an area that has many
traditional white villages where
"real Spain" can be experienced
but only minutes from the coast.
Watered by
age old, intricate irrigation
systems using snow melt from the
Sierra Nevada mountains, this
lush green valley produces a
variety of tropical fruits
including, mango, bananas,
papayas, custard apples, kiwis
and avocados amongst many
others.
The
traditional white villages found
throughout the tropical valley
are still very much "real
Spain", but close enough to the
coast and larger towns with all
the amenities. A fortunate
position providing the peace and
quite of a rural life whilst not
being "cut off" which can occur
when purchasing too far inland.
The
climate is very similar to the
coastal towns. There are
many popular walking routes in
the area. These village
are similar to those discovered
in the Alpujarras, however, in
general the prices are more
reasonable and they are more
accessible to the coast and
airports making them ideal for
holiday homes.
Lecrin
Valley and villages south of
Granada - located between
the centre of the Costa Tropical
and Granada city, this area is
ideally situated with easy
access to the city, the coast,
the ski resort of the Sierra
Nevada, the Alpujarras and
Granada airport.
From small
traditional white villages to
larger towns with all
facilities, you can be sure to
find a property to suit your
needs.
The
climate is more Mediterranean,
generally a little hotter in the
summer and a few degrees cooler
in the winter than the coast.
The superb
ski resort of Sol y Nieve is
open from late November to late
April. |
